Audify — Privacy Policy

Audify (“Audify — Volume Booster, Equalizer & Bass Boost”, the “Extension”) is a Chrome extension that boosts and equalizes the audio of the browser tab you are listening to. This policy explains what the Extension does and does not do with your information.

The short version

• We do not collect, sell, rent, or share your personal data.
• We do not require an account or sign-in.
• Your settings are stored on your own device — and, if you use Chrome sync, in your browser's own synced extension storage, so they survive reinstalls and follow you to new computers. We never see them.
• The Extension does not read, record, or transmit the content of the web pages you visit, your browsing history, or your audio.

Information we store (locally, on your device)

To remember your preferences, the Extension saves the following using Chrome’s local storage (chrome.storage.local). This data stays on your computer and is never sent to us or to any third party:

• Per-website volume, equalizer, preamp, and balance settings, keyed by the website’s domain (e.g. “youtube.com”).
• Your saved and custom presets.
• App preferences such as theme and feature toggles.
• Anonymous local usage counters (for example, how many tabs you have boosted) shown back to you inside the Extension — these never leave your device and are not synced.

If Chrome sync is enabled in your browser, a copy of these settings is kept in your browser's synced extension storage (part of your own Google profile) so reinstalling the Extension can restore them; this data is managed entirely by Chrome and is never visible to us. You can also export or import your settings as a local backup file from the Extension’s options page. You can erase all of this at any time by removing a site in the Extension’s settings, clearing Chrome sync data, or by uninstalling the Extension.

Information we do NOT collect

• No personal information (name, email, address, etc.).
• No browsing history or list of websites you visit.
• No audio content — the Extension processes sound locally in your browser and never records or uploads it.
• No analytics or tracking are enabled by default.

Permissions and why they are used

• Storage — to save your audio settings locally, so they persist between sessions.
• Active tab — when you open the Extension, to identify the current website and apply its saved settings.
• Scripting — used once, right after you install or update the Extension, to load the audio processor into tabs that were already open — so Audify works without you refreshing them. It is never used to read or modify page content.
• Host access (all sites) — so the audio processor can run on any website you choose to boost. It only processes audio locally; it does not read or transmit page content.

Optional, opt-in analytics

Analytics are off by default. If a future version offers an optional “share anonymous usage stats” setting and you explicitly turn it on, the Extension may send anonymous, aggregate feature-usage events (for example, “a preset was applied”) to help us improve the product. Such events never include audio content, page content, personal information, or the websites you visit, and you can turn the setting off at any time.

Data sharing and sale

We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties. We do not use your data for any purpose unrelated to the Extension’s single purpose of controlling tab audio.

Children’s privacy

The Extension is a general-audience audio utility and is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and post the new version at this URL.
